How Do We Build a Media Campaign for Peace?
Dr: Theeb Qaralleh
I was pleased to engage in the deep and constructive discussions that took place during the lecture I delivered on October 16 as part of the training program organized by the Asian-African Journalists Union. The five-day program brought together 35 journalists from seven Arab and African countries.
The lecture, titled “Covering Conflicts and Wars and Building a Media Campaign for Peace,” addressed a range of core issues in contemporary media practice, including:
the concepts of war journalism and peace journalism;
media ethics and models of conflict coverage;
the role of the media in fueling conflicts or contributing to peacebuilding;
the professional challenges journalists face in conflict zones;
and the mechanisms for developing media discourse that promotes peace, alongside strategies for designing campaigns aimed at fostering dialogue and mutual understanding.
